Today your child is bringing home a tally card from the Vancouver Giants which is about a program called Read to Succeed. Two players and a coach from the Giants came to our school today and spoke to the grade twos, threes and our grade ones about this exciting program. Each student is encouraged to read each day for two weeks for 15 minutes and record it down on the card. Also, students are encouraged to participate in any kind of physical activity for 30 minutes each day and record it on the other side of the card. Please return your child’s card to school by Oct. 17. If everyone in the class reads and participates in physical activity each day and completes their card, every student in the class will receive a free ticket to a WHL hockey game. Family and friends of students will get a discounted rate of only $10.00 per ticket. Please read the card for more details!
There are also coupons for Subway restaurant on the card as well.

We were so good today that we got extra centers time!
I love making art. Today we made self-portraits!
Today your child is bringing home some of their school supplies to be labeled at home. Please put your child’s name on all of their supplies, not just their supply box. I realize that this is coming home suddenly and you may have your night filled up with other things. If you cannot label your child’s supplies tonight, don’t worry - your child will bring them home again tomorrow to be labeled.
The cost of the school supplies and planner is $35. If you have not already handed this in please do so as soon as possible.
Also, the Scholastic Book Orders are going home today. They are due back on Monday, Sept 17th. If you wish to order any items please fill out the order forms on the back of the order forms and return it to me.
Also attached are the Highlights and Chickadee Magazine order forms. If you wish to order either of these magazines please fill out the form and return. If you do not wish to order these magazines please still sign and return (no need for address, etc) and return it to the school because if everyone returns their forms (even if they say “no”) our class will get a free subscription of these magazines for the classroom!
Please check your child’s planner every day for notices and announcements and initial where it says signature to show that you have read it.
